The Format: Aliens and Astronauts is an interactive and experiential learning activity designed to teach participants how to navigate multi-cultural environments in a respectful and understanding way.

How do I navigate an increasingly diverse environment or office space?
How do I communicate well with people of different cultures and customs?
How do I turn diversity into a strength?

Diversity is not simple:
Diversity, inclusion and cultural differences are not always easy topics to broach. Often, teachers lack the proper tools to trigger productive discussions about diversity. Tangible results with long-term positive impact are hard to come by.

Aliens and Astronauts was created to solve this. The simple and fun leaning activity allows participants to experience the merits of diversity for themselves, so that the lessons learned live on long after the classroom session as a useful reference framework.

An Activity unlike any other"
Panic onboard the spaceship! A meteorite has struck and the damage is devastating. Astronauts must split into teams to gather repair parts. However, these parts must be obtained from the Aliens, an intergalactic race equipped with advanced technology. The Astronauts must get to know the different customs, cultures and habits of the Aliens. Only in this way will they be able to treat the Aliens with the needed respect in order to convince them to help fix the spaceship in time. This interactive activity consists of 3 parts. 1) Roles & Instructions 2) Game rounds 3) Questions and debrief.
